3. Advisory (Kenya)

SC has also been involved in several initiatives regionally as well, mainly in the Initial Public Offerings in other stock markets. These include offering in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania and Zambia. By extension, SC is increasingly acting as a broker for several of its clients that want access to equity opportunities in these stock markets which is testament to the growing theme and popularity of frontier markets in Africa.

SC is one of the preferred brokers for equities and fixed income trading in the Nairobi Securities Exchange amongst institutional investor (local and foreign) as well as local banks. SC is on the panel of all local (Kenya) fund managers, most local insurance companies, several key foreign brokers whose clients trade in Kenya as well as all the key (tier one and tier two) local banks. SC's business is geared primarily towards meeting the needs of institutional and high net worth clients.

The business environment in Kenya has improved immensely since 2003 (post KANU government) and as a result there are a lot of small and medium sized companies that have enjoyed exponential growth. The significance of Kenya in East Africa has by extension contributed significantly to the economic growth I East Africa. With the formation of the East African Community and growth in the middle income bracket reaching critical mass, many of these companies want to position themselves to exploit the compelling opportunities that lie ahead. At SC, we believe this presents a huge opportunity for our advisory business and we have positioned ourselves to be a relevant and value added partner in the growth of these businesses.
